Already think investing can be a little scary? These terms heard on and off the trading floor might make you believe Halloween has paid a visit to Wall Street.

Corporate Cannibal — a company that hopes to gain a greater share of the market by introducing product lines that compete with its own established products.

Graveyard Market — occurs at the end of a bear market when investors aren’t hurrying to either jump in or out of the market.

Tombstone — an ad that gives basic details about a stock issue before the initial public offering.

Triple Witching Hour — occurs four times each year during the last hour of trading when various options and futures contracts expire on the same day, creating volatility for short-term traders.

Zombie — a company close to or in bankruptcy. Zombie companies continue to operate as if they’re solvent but actually have little chance of recovery.
